Calumet Electronics Purchases New Lead-Free HASL System

Calumet Electronics Corporation has purchased Lantronic’s newest HASL System from ACS Technologies, Corp., North American Distributor, to enhance their RoHS Compliant lead-free printed circuit board manufacturing capabilities.

The Hot Air Solder Leveling (HASL) process has been the preferred coating procedure utilized by the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Industry for the past 20 years. In response to the call for the elimination of lead, Nihon Superior Co., Ltd. developed the patented SN100CL Tin/Nickel/Copper HASL alloy. This alloy has been specially designed as an alternative to Tin/Lead alloys and provides a high quality surface finish for use in the HASL process.

            Lantronic developed the Model TT30 for optimum compatibility with the SN100CL Tin/Nickel/Copper lead-free solder alloy. The newly designed Solder Pot generates a significant amount of solder flow and is drossed from the top reducing the need for expensive and time consuming Solder Pot exchange. In addition, the Solder Pot of the Model TT30 has been fitted with additional strip-heaters to ensure that the specified Solder Pot temperature is maintained. The adjustable “LanTroFlow” heating system provides a steady flow of heated air to the Air Knives maintaining the optimum temperature. 

The Lantronic Model TT30 System using the SN100CL Tin/Nickel/Copper solder alloy provides:

• Superior uniformity and flatness on pads compared to Tin/Lead alloys

• A smooth bright finish on the surface of pads and through-holes

• Excellent through-hole clearance

• Exceptional solder-ability in assembly
