ACS Technologies installs first North American Lead-Free HASL system.

ACS Technologies, Inc. is pleased to announce the first North American Lead-Free Hot Air Solder Leveling (HASL) installation. American PCB, Dallas , TX , has installed the Lantronic Model TT30 Lead-Free HASL system. ACS installed the Lead-Free Model TT30 this past November.

American PCB choice of Lead-Free alloy for the installation was the Nihon Superior SN100CL Sn-Ni-Cu HASL Lead-Free alloy. During the installation, ACS findings with the Lead-Free alloy produced the following advantages: Superior uniformity and flatness on pads compared to traditional eutectic Sn-Pb alloy.  A Smooth and bright finish on the surface pads and through-holes, along with excellent through-hole clearance was obtained. In addition, exceptional solder-ability in assembly was achieved.

Kishore Patel, President of American PCB confirmed ;With the deadline in place for Lead-Free compliance, I want to have my system up and running with the availability of offering outside Lead-Free HASL service to those companies who are not geared up.

As we move ahead into the next generation of HASL finishes, be confident in knowing that the transition is brief and undisruptive. Your current pre-clean and fluxing applications need no modifications. ACS is available to assist you with this procedure.
